The cost of a CHL Renewal Class is $70, including classroom instruction, range qualification, CHL-100 Form, and application assistance. Notary public service is available.
******Important Note******
DPS strongly recommends that you initiate the renewal process on-line Click Here. The advantages are faster more accurate processing, and that you can pay the fee with a credit card and complete the affidavits at the same time. It is not necessary to have your Renewal Application Package to take the class. However, you must call DPS to request it, or initiate the on-line renewal process.
As of 5/1/2010, Fingerprints and Photos are no longer required for CHL renewals.
Beginning with the 3rd renewal, a person is only required to take the Renewal Class and Qualification Test once in 10 years. Contact DPS to check on your requirement.
